State Reports
The students have been assigned a state report.  These will be due on Wednesday, April 28.  This is a Google Slides presentation that they will be sharing with the class.  This week we will be using books from the library to research their state.  I highly encourage the students to have a parent review their work before turning in.  The students will be graded on content, following directions, spelling, capitalization, and punctuation.

IXL Language Arts
I have begun assigning weekly IXL Language Arts practice to the children.  I assign them several categories each Friday.  I ask the children to complete each category to a score of 85.  This will be due the following Thursday by 2:45.  The work is due that day and there will not be an opportunity to make up the work.  The categories that I assign are review work only.  This work is intended to be early finisher work; the students can work on it throughout the school day.   Mrs. Hiland

Reading Logs
Attached to this week's spelling packet is a reading log for the students.  The students are required to read 80 minutes per week, all at once or several times during the week.  The reading log is assigned on a Thursday and is due the following Wednesday.   The students need to fill out the log and then get a parent's signature before turning in.

Spelling Packets
Spelling Packets will be assigned every other Thursday.  The spelling test will be taken on the following  Wednesday.  Together, in class, the students will complete the first page of the packet.  We will review the rest of the packet to make sure students understand how to complete the activities.   The remainder of the packet is considered homework, the students will not be given specific time to complete the packet in class.  I do encourage them to work on the packet should they finish classwork early.  Our next packet is due on 9/16, we'll take the test that day also.
